Following the firing of head coach Pete Carroll, the Las Vegas Raiders have begun to request interviews for the position. The latest name associated with the Raiders is Davis Webb. He will interview for the job on Wednesday <\/a>while the Denver Broncos are on their playoff bye.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s take a deep dive into Webb\u2019s background.<\/p>\n

Webb was the Denver Broncos offensive pass game coordinator in 2025, a promotion he received after two years as the quarterbacks coach with Sean Payton.<\/p>\n

Definitely the youngest candidate in the cycle, Webb is turning 31 later this month.<\/p>\n

Webb was drafted by the New York Giants in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, so he was in the same draft class as Patrick Mahomes. He was only with the Giants for one year as Ben McAdoo was fired and replaced by Pat Shurmur. After his release in September 2018, he went across the stadium to the New York Jets for one season. He signed with the Buffalo Bills in September 2019, staying on the practice squad until making his NFL debut in 2021. He rejoined the Giants in 2022 with Brian Daboll, his former offensive coordinator from Buffalo. There were reports at the time that the Bills offered him a coaching position in 2022 but he wanted to continue playing and was able to start his first and only NFL game for New York that year before moving into the coaching ranks.<\/p>\n

Why are the Raiders interested in Davis Webb?<\/p>\n

Webb is seen as a rising star in the NFL, not only for what he has done with Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos, but his playing career mentorship, as well. During his playing days, he was known as a sponge who soaked up all he could from successful offensive coaches including Ben McAdoo, Rick Dennison, Brian Daboll, Ken Dorsey, Rob Boras, Jason Garrett, and Freddie Kitchens in addition to his time as a coach with Sean Payton, Joe Lombardi, and John Morton.<\/p>\n

Webb\u2019s work with Josh Allen in Buffalo received praise to the point where when Daboll was hired away by the New York Giants, the Bills tried to immediately move Webb to QBs coach after promoting Dorsey from that role to coordinator.<\/p>\n

When he was hired in Denver, Webb completely skipped the normal route of offensive quality control coach right into the QB coach seat. Bo Nix has developed nicely in Denver, leading the Broncos to the one seed in the AFC playoffs in 2025.<\/p>\n

The Raiders haven\u2019t been afraid to hire young coaches in the past<\/p>\n

At 30 years and 11 months, Webb would be the same age as Sean McVay was when he was hired as the youngest NFL head coach in the modern era by the Los Angeles Rams. McVay broke Lane Kiffin\u2019s record, who was hired by the Raiders at age 31 years and 8 months. John Madden was 32 years and 10 months when he was hired as the Raiders head coach, Al Davis was 33 years and 6 months when he was first head coach, and Jon Gruden was 34 years and 5 months when he was hired in Oakland.
