The Las Vegas Raiders\u2019 head coaching search is heating up after the decision to fire Pete Carroll<\/a>. The team already has a list of coaches they are interviewing, and one of them is Seattle Seahawks<\/a> offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak.<\/p>\n The son of Super Bowl-winning head coach Gary Kubiak has bounced around the NFL<\/a> a lot in his career, but has finally found a team where he can show what he\u2019s capable of as a playcaller. The Seahawks had the third-highest scoring offense in the NFL this season. They finished 18th in scoring last season.<\/p>\n Kubiak started to get some hype in 2024 when he had the New Orleans Saints<\/a> offense humming with Derek Carr at quarterback. They looked like a juggernaut through a couple of games, but injuries to Carr and other key offensive players derailed their season.<\/p>\n Carr only spent one season with Kubiak, but he became a big fan of the young coach. The former Raiders quarterback was asked about the coach\u2019s fit in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n \u201cThat would be so awesome,\u201d Carr told his brother David Carr on the \u201cHome Grown\u201d podcast.<\/a><\/p>\n David Carr then pressed Derek Carr about a possible return to the Raiders if Kubiak got the job, but the former Pro Bowler refused to chime in.<\/p>\n Is Kubiak the Top Candidate for Raiders?<\/p>\n Out of the first-time head coaching candidates with offensive backgrounds, Kubiak appears to be the most sought-after name in the class. He has a diverse background, having worked for defensive coaches like Mike Zimmer and Mike Macdonald and offensive gurus like Kyle Shanahan and his father.<\/p>\n With the Raiders likely using the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft to add a franchise quarterback, it would be smart to add an offensive-minded coach. Kubiak has to be high atop the list of candidates for the Raiders. He\u2019s only 38, so he\u2019s the perfect age for a rebuilding franchise.<\/p>\n He can call the plays, so the team doesn\u2019t have to worry about replacing their offensive coordinator every couple of years. Now, Kubiak might see other situations as a better fit, but he\u2019s at least going to hear the Raiders out. He\u2019d be a solid hire for Las Vegas to make.<\/p>\n Raiders Interviewing Matt Nagy<\/p>\n Another offensive mind the Raiders are taking a look at is Kansas City Chiefs<\/a> offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, per NFL Network\u2019s Tom Pelissero<\/a>. He was previously the head coach of the Chicago Bears<\/a> and actually had a 34-31 record and two playoff appearances in four seasons before getting fired.<\/p>\n What sank him was the team\u2019s decision to tie him to quarterback Mitch Trubisky, who has turned out to be a bust. He has spent almost his entire career learning under Andy Reid, who is arguably the greatest head coach ever.<\/p>\n Many Raiders fans might balk at the idea of adding Nagy, but there are worse candidates out there. It\u2019s easy to see him winning if the Raiders pick the right quarterback.<\/p>\n That said, he\u2019s likely Reid\u2019s successor in Kansas City when he retires. It might take a lot to convince him to leave the Chiefs. The Tennessee Titans<\/a> also make a lot of sense for him since they\u2019re being run by former Chiefs executives.<\/p>\n \n\t\t\tAustin Boyd<\/a> has covered the Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Lakers for Heavy.com since 2019.
