\u2014 Washington Commanders (@Commanders) January 5, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n As Pittsburgh gears up for their Wild Card Round playoff matchup<\/a> against the Houston Texans<\/a>, a former Steelers<\/a> defender has found a new home in the NFC East.<\/p>\n On Monday, ex-Steelers cornerback Darius Rush signed a reserve\/futures contract with the Washington Commanders<\/a>.<\/p>\n Selected by the Indianapolis Colts<\/a> with the 138th overall pick in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, Rush ultimately didn\u2019t make the final roster and was waived in August of his rookie year.<\/p>\n The Kansas City Chiefs claimed him off waivers. He was waived once again but re-signed with their practice squad.<\/p>\n The Steelers signed Rush off Kansas City\u2019s practice squad in October 2023. He appeared in five games before he was waived in October 2024.<\/p>\n Over the next year and a half, Rush had short tenures with the Chiefs and Cleveland Browns<\/a> before signing with the Commanders\u2019 practice squad in August 2025.
