{"id":663141,"date":"2026-01-08T06:46:13","date_gmt":"2026-01-08T06:46:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/663141\/"},"modified":"2026-01-08T06:46:13","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T06:46:13","slug":"browns-set-to-interview-defensive-coordinator-jim-schwartz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/663141\/","title":{"rendered":"Browns set to interview defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) &#8211; Veteran NFL coach and current Browns defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz will interview Thursday for the Browns\u2019 vacant head coaching position.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Schwartz has been Cleveland\u2019s defensive coordinator since 2023 and was head coach of the Detroit Lions from 2009 to 2013.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Lions fired Schwartz after five seasons. He later had stops as defensive coordinator in Buffalo in 2014 and Philadelphia from 2016 to 2020, and served as a senior defensive assistant at Tennessee from 2021 to 2022.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Browns general manager Andrew Berry held a press conference after Kevin Stefanski was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cleveland19.com\/2026\/01\/05\/cleveland-browns-fire-kevin-stefanski\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.cleveland19.com\/2026\/01\/05\/cleveland-browns-fire-kevin-stefanski\/\">fired<\/a> and said Schwartz has, \u201cearned the right for consideration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Under Schwartz, the Browns defense ranked fourth this season in yards allowed (283.6) and third overall in sacks. The unit was led by Myles Garrett, who recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cleveland19.com\/2026\/01\/04\/garrett-breaks-record-browns-win-over-loss-bengals\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.cleveland19.com\/2026\/01\/04\/garrett-breaks-record-browns-win-over-loss-bengals\/\">broke <\/a>the NFL single-season sack record by taking down Joe Burrow to reach 23 sacks in the Browns\u2019 20-18 win over the Bengals in the season finale.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2026 WOIO.
