{"id":664363,"date":"2026-01-08T18:03:14","date_gmt":"2026-01-08T18:03:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/664363\/"},"modified":"2026-01-08T18:03:14","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T18:03:14","slug":"broncos-special-teams-coordinator-to-interview-for-a-head-coaching-job-denver-sports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/664363\/","title":{"rendered":"Broncos special teams coordinator to interview for a head-coaching job \u2013 Denver Sports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The list of NFL teams interested in what the Denver Broncos are doing keeps on growing.<\/p>\n<p>It makes sense after Denver had a dazzling 14-3 regular seed and is the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs.<\/p>\n<p>And while Broncos defensive coordinator <a href=\"https:\/\/denversports.com\/nfl\/denver-broncos\/broncos-have-two-assistants-interviewing-for-coveted-ravens-job\/2127923\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Vance Joseph is getting the most looks to be an NFL head coach<\/a>, two other assistants have joined the list.<\/p>\n<p>QB coach Davis Webb <a href=\"https:\/\/denversports.com\/nfl\/denver-broncos\/broncos-have-two-assistants-interviewing-for-coveted-ravens-job\/2127923\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">will interview with the Raiders and Ravens<\/a>, while special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi will now have a shot with the New York Giants.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Giants requested to interview Broncos assistant head coach and special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi for their head coach vacancy.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AdamSchefter\/status\/2009315249103811005?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">January 8, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Rizzi joined the Broncos this year in the special teams role after several seasons with Sean Payton in New Orleans. He was also the Saints\u2019 interim coach for the last half of 2024, posting a 3-5 record.<\/p>\n<p>Denver\u2019s special teams got off to a shaky start in 2025, <a href=\"https:\/\/denversports.com\/nfl\/denver-broncos\/broncos-st-ire\/2126511\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">but Payton vehemently defended Rizzi<\/a>. It\u2019s worked out, as the Broncos have rebounded nicely. Wil Lutz has made several clutch kicks and Marvin Mims Jr. has delivered some key returns, among other highlights.<\/p>\n<p>ESPN\u2019s Adam Schefter <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AdamSchefter\/status\/2009315814621732949?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">also points out the Rizzi worked with Giants GM Joe Schoen<\/a> for nearly a decade in Miami, so there\u2019s a familiarity there.<\/p>\n<p>For those keeping track at home, that\u2019s now six interviews for Joseph, two for Webb and now one for Rizzi.
