FRISCO \u2013 In this era of social media and instant gratification, it doesn\u2019t take long for news to circulate. Especially Dallas Cowboys<\/a> news.<\/p>\n

Except, that is, in the case of the Cowboys\u2019 May 7 acquisition of talented wide receiver George Pickens from Pittsburgh <\/a>and owner Jerry Jones\u2019 excitement to share the news with quarterback Dak Prescott.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI was actually away from my phone for a couple hours,\u201d Prescott recalled Tuesday. \u201cI came back to like six missed calls from Jerry\u2019s assistant. I had literally no idea what it could have been about.<\/p>\n

\u201cActually got a voicemail from Jerry: \u2018Hey! I\u2019ve got some good news!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Prescott drew laughs from reporters while briefly doing his impression of Jones\u2019 voice. He said that when he phoned Jones back that night, Jones informed him that the trade announcement would occur the next morning.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of excitement from both of us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

In the case of Pickens and new teammate and fellow receiver CeeDee Lamb,<\/a> the excitement ran even deeper. Lamb, 26, and Pickens, 24, have been friends since they first trained together during Pickens\u2019 preparations for the 2022 NFL draft combine.<\/p>\n

Pickens said Tuesday that Lamb was one of the first Cowboys to reach out to him when news broke of the trade.<\/p>\n

\u201cGood vibes,\u201d Pickens said. \u201cHe was super-happy. Some of the guys on defense were, too. The whole team was super-happy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lamb said he and Pickens are both students of football. Lamb said he marvels at Pickens\u2019 catch radius and his ability to beat defenders off the press. Pickens is impressed with Lamb\u2019s intermediate routes and exceptional footwork.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe gets where he\u2019s going, fast, in a short space,\u201d Pickens said. \u201cAnd he\u2019s tall.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the trade\u2019s aftermath, Lamb on social media made it clear that he embraces the chance to play with a receiver whom he considers to be his equal,<\/a> that they are not WR1 and WR2 but, rather, both WR1s.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe complement each other,\u201d Lamb said Tuesday. \u201cIf he\u2019s tired, I can guarantee I\u2019m not. So I\u2019m just being his backbone, being here for him and letting him know that he\u2019s got some help on the other side (who\u2019s) a dog.\u201d<\/p>\n
