The Texas Longhorns are losing another player to the NCAA transfer portal with Thursday\u2019s news that wide receiver Jaime Ffrench is departing the program.<\/p>\n
The 6\u20191, 185-pounder has four seasons of eligibility remaining.<\/p>\n
Ffrench signed with the Longhorns as part of the No. 1-ranked 2025 recruiting class as a centerpiece of the three-man wide receiver class. When Ffrench committed to Texas over LSU, Miami, and Tennessee in late August of 2024, it was a significant coup for wide receivers coach Chris Jackson. At the time, Ffrench was a consensus five-star prospect ranked as the No. 4 wide receiver, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, but dropped from No. 19 overall to No. 44 and finished as the No. 9 wide receiver, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.<\/p>\n
The Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin product had made an early commitment to Alabama, but reopened his recruitment after Nick Saban retired, picking up his offer from Texas later that month. After pledging to the Horns, Ffrench took an official visit with the Gators late in the process, but stuck with Texas.<\/p>\n
After arriving in Austin in January, Ffrench struggled to make an impact, finishing the season behind classmates Daylan McCutcheon, who received early playing time, and Kaliq Lockett, who closed strong with a touchdown catch in the Citrus Bowl win over Michigan. Ffrench only played 22 snaps over four games, including five snaps against the Wolverines, recording one reception for six yards against the Bearkats.<\/p>\n
