The New York Giants have requested an interview with Denver Broncos special teams coordinator and assistant head coach Darren Rizzi for their vacant head coaching position.<\/p>\n
Rizzi, 55, is a familiar face for Giants\u2019 GM Joe Schoen. The two spent eight years together in the Miami Dolphins\u2019 organization, from 2009 when Rizzi joined the Dolphins staff until 2017 when Schoen left to join the Buffalo Bills\u2019 front office.<\/p>\n
During that time, Rizzi spent that time as a special teams\u2019 coach, while Schoen was a national scout, director of college scouting, and finally director of player personnel.<\/p>\n
Rizzi has been a coach in the NFL since 2009 when he joined the Dolphins\u2019 staff as their assistant special teams coach. He became their special teams coordinator in 2010 and added the title of Associate Head Coach in 2017. Rizzi wasn\u2019t retained when Brian Flores became the Dolphins\u2019 head coach in 2019 and joined Sean Payton\u2019s staff with the New Orleans Saints on February 1, 2019.<\/p>\n
He stayed on the staff when Dennis Allen became the Saints\u2019 head coach and was named the assisstant head coach in 2022 and was named the interim head coach when Allen was fired in 2024.<\/p>\n
Rizzi ultimately reunited with Payton in Denver in 2025. The Giants have also requested an interview with Broncos\u2019 defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, while the Las Vegas Raiders and Baltimore Ravens have requested interviews with quarterbacks coach (and former Giants\u2019 quarterback) Davis Webb for their own head coaching vacancies.<\/p>\n
Rizzi is the eighth former head coach in whom the Giants expressed interest for their head coaching position. The list of former head coaches now looks like this:<\/p>\n
The Giants have also requested interviews with Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak and Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo.<\/p>\n
