Per a report from NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Detroit Lions<\/a> will interview Seattle Seahawks<\/a> offensive passing game coordinator Jake Peetz for its offensive coordinator vacancy. Peetz, 42, has spent the past two seasons with the Seahawks<\/a> as its offensive passing game coordinator.<\/p>\n The Seahawks earned the No. 1 seed in the NFC and a first-round bye in this year’s playoffs after finishing with a 14-3 regular-season record and capturing the NFC West title with a Week 18 win at San Francisco<\/a>.<\/p>\n Working alongside Seattle offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, Peetz and the Seahawks boast the NFL’s No. 8 total offense (351. yards per game), its No. 8 passing offense (228.1 passing yards per game) and its No. 3 scoring offense (28.4 points per game).<\/p>\n Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold is fifth in the league in passing with 4,048 passing yards. Darnold has thrown for 25 touchdowns. Seahawks receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba has reeled in 119 catches for 1,793 yards and 10 scores.<\/p>\n In 2024, Peetz oversaw a Seattle passing game that featured Geno Smith passing for 4,320 yards and 21 touchdowns.<\/p>\n Expert NFL picks: Exclusive betting insights only at USA TODAY.<\/a><\/p>\n Prior to his time in Seattle, Peetz worked for Los Angeles Rams<\/a> head coach Sean McVay, where he served as an offensive assistant with the Rams<\/a> in 2022 before serving as the Rams’ pass game specialist in 2023.<\/p>\n In 2023, Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford threw for 3,965 yards and 24 touchdowns. Then-Rams rookie receiver Puka Nacua set NFL rookie records for receptions (105) and receiving yards (1,486).<\/p>\n A Nebraska<\/a> alum, Peetz also served as LSU<\/a>‘s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2021. Peetz began his coaching career at Santa Barbara City College in 2006 before joining UCLA<\/a> as a defensive assistant in 2007.<\/p>\n Peetz worked in the Jacksonville Jaguars<\/a>‘ scouting department from 2008-11 before transitioning into a coaching role as the Jaguars<\/a>‘ assistant quarterbacks coach.<\/p>\n Other NFL stops include Washington<\/a> (offensive quality control coach) in 2014, Oakland<\/a> (assistant quarterbacks coach \/ quarterbacks coach) in 2015-17 and Carolina<\/a> (running backs coach \/ quarterbacks coach) in 2019-20.
