Kansas City Chiefs<\/a> wide receiver Xavier Worthy and his mother, Nicky Jones, have visited the Hilltop Residential Center over the past three months, inspiring today’s youth.<\/p>\n Worthy and his mother are part of the Youth R.I.S.E. Program, a group that supports “justice-impacted” youth ages 9 to 22. The mentors’ weekly offer guidance, accountability, and life-skills education to help children and young adults envision a future beyond their current circumstances.<\/p>\n “When I was growing up, we always talked about, if you make it, we’re going to do this, we’re going to start this, and it’s just something that warms our hearts,” Worthy said to FOX 4’s Harold Kuntz<\/a>, “This program was never about football or fame \u2014 it was about presence.”<\/p>\n Worthy has spent time throughout the season discussing his long-term plans to support the up-and-coming generations in Kansas City.
