In arguably the biggest recruiting win of the 2026 transfer cycle, Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns<\/a> were able to secure a commitment from former Auburn wide receiver Cam Coleman<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The big-time addition gives Arch Manning one of the best weapons in college football and puts Texas in position to return to the top of the sport in 2026.<\/p>\n

Here are five things to know about Texas\u2019 newest superstar.<\/p>\n

Name: Cameron Coleman<\/p>\n

Position: Wide receiver<\/p>\n

Height: 6-3 Weight: 201 pounds<\/p>\n

Previous college: Auburn<\/p>\n

2. One of the best<\/p>\n

It\u2019s no secret that Texas is getting arguably the best wideout in the country in Coleman.<\/p>\n

In two seasons at Auburn, he caught 93 balls for 1,306 yards and 13 touchdowns despite dealing with abysmal quarterback play. He was named to the SEC\u2019s All-Freshman Team in 2024 and will be on most preseason All-American lists ahead of his 2026 campaign alongside Manning.<\/p>\n

3. A competitive recruitment<\/p>\n

Coleman certainly isn\u2019t coming to Austin for free<\/p>\n

According to the Houston Chronicle<\/a>, he agreed to a deal worth more than $2 million, with a price tag that could be as high as $3 million. It\u2019s difficult to know exactly where that stands among the highest-paid players in college football since most deals aren\u2019t made public, but Coleman would certainly be near the top of that list.<\/p>\n

To make things a little sweeter for Longhorns fans, securing Coleman was a massive in-state recruiting win, as Texas Tech<\/a> and Texas A&M<\/a> both hosted him for a visit. Alabama was also in the mix for Coleman\u2019s services. Interestingly, Coleman originally committed to A&M out of high school before flipping his commitment to stay closer to home with Auburn.<\/p>\n

4. Human highlight reel<\/p>\n

He\u2019s got quite the highlight package to his name during his two years playing college football. Expect plenty of acrobatic catches like this one during Coleman\u2019s time with the Longhorns.<\/p>\n

5. Popular NFL draft name<\/p>\n

Coleman won\u2019t be in Austin for very long if things go according to plan.<\/p>\n

He is widely considered one of the best prospects in what\u2019s expected to be a loaded 2027 NFL draft class. CBS Sports\u2019 Mike Renner had Coleman as the No. 5 prospect for that draft class as of late November.<\/p>\n

“Don\u2019t let Coleman\u2019s stats fool you \u2014 he\u2019s every bit a No. 1 wide receiver prospect in his own right,” he wrote<\/a>. \u201cIf he weren\u2019t in the same class as Jeremiah Smith and playing in a more competent passing offense, he\u2019d likely already be a household name. He has a lanky 6-foot-3 frame with elite deep speed and outstanding footwork for a taller receiver, and he can run the full route tree with ease. To fully justify this top-five buzz, however, Coleman needs to clean up the drop issues we\u2019ve seen on tape (six drops on 58 catchable targets this season).\u201d<\/p>\n

If he continues to live up to his five-star pedigree, as 247Sports had him as the No. 2 wideout and No. 5 player in the Class of 2024<\/a>, he\u2019ll hear his name called very early in April 2027.<\/p>\n
