Update 1\/11\/2026: Patriots CB Carlton Davis returns to Chargers game after brief injury exit<\/p>\n
Cornerback Carlton Davis was not able to finish the first half against of the New England Patriots\u2019 wild card playoff game against the Los Angeles Chargers, but he was back on the field to start the second. Davis took his usual spot in the lineup on the Chargers\u2019 opening possession and did not show any visible limitations in the three snaps before L.A. had to send the punting unit on.<\/p>\n

The New England Patriots defense had some good moments in the first half of its wild card playoff game against the Los Angeles Chargers, but it also saw one of its starting members depart with an injury. In the second quarter, cornerback Carlton Davis left with what was later announced as a toe injury.<\/p>\n
He is officially questionable to return to the game.<\/p>\n
Filling his usual role as the Patriots\u2019 starting outside cornerback opposite Pro Bowler Christian Gonzalez, Davis registered three tackles and a quarterback hit before leaving the game. That hit, coming on the Chargers\u2019 final offensive possession of the second quarter, was his final play before the exit.<\/p>\n
The 29-year-old came off the field after putting pressure on L.A. quarterback Justin Herbert, headed to the blue medical tent, and later departed for the locker room. New England\u2019s fourth cornerback, Charles Woods took over his role on defense.<\/p>\n
Davis joined the Patriots on a three-year, $54 million free agency contract in March. Starting all 17 regular season games, he ranked second on the team with 926 defensive snaps.
