This is relevant to the Cowboys, one version of them, because New England was the #2 seed on the AFC side of the playoff picture.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">We have to go back even further to understand the point at hand here. The NFL expanded the playoff field to include 3 Wild Card teams per conference ahead of the 2020 season which means that we just wrapped up year number six of life as we currently know it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">There are 12 teams who have been the #2 seed since then and therefore 12 teams who have hosted the #7 seed in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs. As a result of the wins from Chicago and New England those #2 seeds are now 11-1 in those specific games\u2026 with the lone loss being the 2023 Dallas Cowboys.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">It has felt in many ways like the Cowboys are still trying to recover from that loss, and another year has gone by to prove just how awful it was.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Dallas Cowboys remain alone with horrible NFL playoff history.
