The Pittsburgh Steelers faced a fate that has become all too familiar – a lopsided loss in the wild card round to close out their season. The Houston Texans defeated Pittsburgh 30-6 to advance to the divisional round to face the New England Patriots.<\/p>\n

With the loss comes questions about the respective futures of multiple veteran Steelers, none more up in the air than 42-year-old quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The four-time NFL MVP started his Steelers tenure with an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show,<\/a> saying that he intends for 2025 to be his final year. However, he has left the door open for a return in recent weeks. His teammate and captain, Cam Heyward, was asked about his potential return in 2026, to which Heyward said he\u2019d like to have Rodgers back.<\/p>\n

\u201dIf 8 wants to come back, he has the right to come back,\u201d Heyward said via Brooke Pryor<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019d like to see him come back, but I\u2019m not going to make that decision. That\u2019s not fair to the Steelers. It\u2019s not fair to 8. Have a lot of respect for the organization and Aaron.\u201d<\/p>\n

In his postgame press conference<\/a>, Rodgers said he wasn\u2019t going to make any \u201cemotional decisions\u201d when asked if this game would factor into his decision to retire or keep playing.<\/p>\n
