The Chicago Bears are set to host the Los Angeles Rams in a divisional playoff game.Forecasts predict bitterly cold weather for the game, with temperatures as low as 8 degrees.The cold weather is seen as an advantage for the Bears and a challenge for the Rams and their quarterback, Matthew Stafford.<\/p>\n

The Chicago Bears<\/a> will battle the Los Angeles Rams in the divisional round of the playoffs Sunday night at Soldier Field, and home-field advantage should be in full effect if early weather forecasts are any indication.<\/p>\n

According to Accuweather\u2019s early forecast<\/a>, Sunday is expected to be “bitterly cold,” with temperatures reaching as low as 8 degrees and 55 percent chance of precipitation. It’s certainly a decided advantage for the cold-weather Bears<\/a> and an uphill battle for the warm-weather Rams.<\/p>\n

It benefits the Bears that this game gets the evening slot as it’s expected to be even colder when the game kicks off at 5:30 p.m. CT. The evening forecast calls for “very cold with periods of snow.” The temperature is expected to be around 10 degrees with a -6 windchill with roughly an inch of snow. The wind will be 12 miles per hour with gusts up to 22 miles per hour.<\/p>\n

The Bears earned the No. 2 seed in the NFC, guaranteeing them, at minimum, two home playoff games. And, considering the climate, this shows the importance of home-field advantage. Quarterback Matthew Stafford has historically struggled in cold weather, and with a sprained index finger on his throwing hand, it could be even worse. Meanwhile, Chicago is prepared for this kind of game as they’ve played in frigid, windy and snowy conditions.<\/p>\n
