When Kellen Moore last stepped off the field as the offensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles, he did so as a Super Bowl champion.<\/p>\n
But while he remains where he was that day – in the Caesars Superdome, albeit in different colors – the Eagles are in rather unfamiliar territory, having dropped their first home playoff game in over six years to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.<\/p>\n
The link to the black and gold is clear: the Saints snagged a huge piece of Philadelphia\u2019s championship-winning puzzle, and fans should feel even more encouraged that he\u2019s at the helm in the wake of Wild Card weekend.<\/p>\n
Jalen Hurts and the Philly offense has taken a huge step back in the year since Moore\u2019s departure, which culminated in Sunday\u2019s defeat to a depleted 49ers defense.<\/p>\n
While Moore was 18-3 as the Eagles\u2019 playcaller, posting 29 points per contest and averaging 366 yards of offense, Philadelphia came down to 22.1ppg and 311ypg in 2025. They stacked 3 more defeats onto their record in the process, falling from 14-3 with Moore to 11-6. Their season was marred by controversy among a number of offensive players. Some could see the loss to San Francisco coming.<\/p>\n
What\u2019s more, the Saints notched more total yards on the season than the defending champions.<\/p>\n
So while the young head coach did plenty in his own right to prove his worth in year one in New Orleans, the failures of the team and the offense that he left behind highlight his play-calling talent and simply reinforce the point that Kellen Moore was the correct hire for the black and gold.<\/p>\n
After finishing the 2025 regular season on such a high note, optimism abounds in the Crescent City – and Kellen Moore\u2019s performance as head coach so far has played a massive part in that.<\/p>\n
