On Tuesday, Philadelphia Eagles<\/a> head coach Nick Sirianni announced he was removing Kevin Patullo from the offensive coordinator position.<\/p>\n

The Eagles offense struggled throughout Patullo’s first and only season as the offensive coordinator. On Sunday, Philadelphia’s lack of offense was the major contributor to a 23-19 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the wild-card round.<\/p>\n

Sirianni took responsibility for the falling short in the playoffs and said removing Patullo was a “difficult” choice.<\/p>\n

“I met with Kevin today to discuss the difficult decision, as he is a great coach who has my utmost respect,” Sirianni said<\/a>, via ESPN. “He has been integral to this team’s success over the last five years, not only to the on-field product but behind the scenes as a valued leader for our players and organization. <\/p>\n

“I have no doubt he will continue to have a successful coaching career. Ultimately, when we fall short of our goals that responsibility lies on my shoulders.”<\/p>\n

Now Sirianni is tasked with finding a fifth offensive coordinator in six seasons. <\/p>\n

Per NFL insider Josina Anderson, former Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury (who knows the NFC East from his most recent stint as the Washington Commanders offensive coordinator) and former Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski are expected to be targeted by the Eagles for the offensive coordinator job.<\/p>\n

“A league source said Kliff Kingsbury (a runner up when the team hired Kellen Moore) & Kevin Stefanski will ‘get a real look’ for the Eagles offensive coordinator position–among other options–assuming head coach signings don’t supersede the team’s vacancy,” Anderson posted on X.<\/p>\n

The Eagles have plenty of attractive offers for an offensive mind. With key skilled players like quarterback Jalen Hurts, running back Saquon Barkley, wide receiver DeVonta Smith, and wide receiver A.J. Brown, Philadelphia has plenty of talent to scheme for in 2026.<\/p>\n

However, the job comes with plenty of high risk and high reward. <\/p>\n

The most recent offensive coordinator to last in Philadelphia for more than one season was Shane Steichen, who left to take the head coaching gig with the Indianapolis Colts following the Eagles’ 38-35 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs\u00a0in\u00a0Super Bowl LVII.<\/p>\n

Kellen Moore left to take the head coaching job of the New Orleans Saints after winning the Super Bowl last year.<\/p>\n

Brian Johnson and Patullo, both appointed to offensive coordinator after the Eagles’ runs to the Super Bowl, were removed from the job after one season and an early postseason exit.<\/p>\n
