With the Eagles losing to the 49ers in the Wild Card round on Sunday<\/a>, officially meaning each NFC East team\u2019s season is over, Tuesday\u2019s episode of HBO\u2019s Hard Knocks In Season with the NFC East was the seventh and final edition of this season.<\/p>\n

The vast majority of the episode featured behind-the-scenes content of the Eagles\u2019 week leading up to their playoff loss and the fallout after Philadelphia was eliminated. However, Cowboys<\/a> fans did get an inside look at what the process of a coaching change looks like.<\/p>\n

Two days after Dallas\u2019 season ended, the Cowboys fired defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus<\/a> and HBO had footage of head coach Brian Schottenheimer informing the coaching staff that Eberflus had been let go.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just met with \u2018Flus early this morning,\u201d he said to his staff. \u201cIncredible human being. Love the man, but at the end of the day, the football wasn\u2019t right.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been in this position. I\u2019ve been \u2018Flus, I\u2019ve been the guys in this room. I understand the questions, I understand the concerns and I will answer all those. Right now, the focus has to be number one, about the man, checking on him. Reach out, tell him you love him because he\u2019s a great man. Two, finishing this process. The exit interviews with the players are critical. We have to continue that process, so we\u2019ve got players rolling in here in the next little bit, if anybody\u2019s got questions, come see me.\u201d<\/p>\n

After Schottenheimer broke the meeting with his coaches, a montage of players entering the building to clean out their lockers and officially put a bow on the 2025 season was shown.<\/p>\n

Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones also sat down and explained the decision to move on from Eberflus from his perspective.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur 2025 season was a roller coaster,\u201d Jones said. \u201cWe were inconsistent on defense. The Eberflus decision, not going forward with him was one of the hardest that I\u2019ve been involved in in my time with the Dallas Cowboys. But at the end, I think it was the thing to do.\u201d<\/p>\n
