In a bit of a surprise, the Miami Dolphins have requested to interview lame duck Las Vegas Raiders defensive coordinator Patrick Graham for their open head-coaching job.<\/p>\n
Last week, the Washington Commanders asked to interview Graham for their open defensive-coordinator job. It is likely Graham will get more interest as a defensive coordinator rather than as a head coach. Also, he is likely going to be considered as a long-shot candidate in Miami. He was the Dolphins\u2019 defensive coordinator in 2019.<\/p>\n
Graham has had head-coaching interviews in recent head-coaching hiring cycles. The Raiders will get third-round draft picks in 20026 and 2027 as part of the NFL\u201ds Rooney Rule if Graham is hired as a head coach.<\/p>\n
If he were to get hired as a head coach, it would be a terrific bonus for the Raiders. There is no sure thing he will be kept on the staff of the new head coach.<\/p>\n
Graham has been the Raiders\u2019 defensive coordinator since 2022 and has worked under Josh McDaniels, Antonio Pierce and Pete Carroll.
