The Arizona Cardinals took to X earlier this month to wish head coach Jonathan Gannon a happy birthday.<\/p>\n
Unfortunately for Gannon, a day later he was fired by the organization. You can check out the post wishing him a happy birthday here<\/a>.<\/p>\n Jonathan Gannon was fired after spending three seasons as the Cardinals head coach. Arizona went 3-14 in 2025 and was 15-36 in Gannon\u2019s three years.<\/p>\n \u201cThis morning we spoke with Jonathan Gannon and let him know that we were going to go in a different direction with our head coach,\u201d Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill said<\/a> when announcing Gannon\u2019s firing. \u201cJonathan is a very smart, motivated, enthusiastic, intelligent, awesome coach. He and his staff\u2026 their families give so much sacrifice to this organization.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re so appreciative of what he put into this organization. He made us better, but I think as you all know, this is a league about wins and losses. The wins and losses speak for themselves, especially this year. We just felt like we were going in the wrong direction and we needed to change course.\u201d<\/p>\n Prior to being the head coach of the Cardinals, Gannon was the defensive coordinator of the Eagles in 2021 and 2022. <\/p>\n He has also been on staff in the NFL<\/a> with the Colts, Vikings, Titans and Falcons.<\/p>\n Fans certainly noticed that the Cardinals wished Gannon a happy birthday the day before firing him. Replies to the post were filled with comments acknowledging the irony. <\/p>\n \u201cHappy birthday! Your gift is… you\u2019re fired,\u201d one fan said<\/a>.<\/p>\n
