Former Detroit Lions special teams captain Jalen Reeves-Maybin has been signed to the Chicago Bears\u2019 active roster for the playoffs.<\/p>\n

The Bears signed the 30-year-old veteran linebacker to the active roster as they gear up to host the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Divisional Round this Sunday evening. The team announced some roster moves on Tuesday<\/a>, including placing linebacker T.J. Edwards on IR, and promoting Reeves-Maybin to the active roster.<\/p>\n

Chicago first picked him up back in November<\/a> and he\u2019s played in three regular season games since\u201416 snaps against the Eagles in Week 13, and 17 snaps against the Packers and the Browns the following weeks. The Bears also put Reeves-Maybin to work in the playoffs, where he tallied two tackles and a quarterback hit against the Packers during the NFL Wild Card Weekend.<\/p>\n

The Lions selected Reeves-Maybin in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He was a special teams standout in Detroit, where he spent seven of the eight past seasons with a small stint in Houston in 2022. Fans who loved him were heartbroken when the Lions parted ways with the veteran linebacker last February to save $2 million in cap space.<\/p>\n

Fun fact: The Bears filled his practice squad spot with linebacker Nephi Sewell, Penei\u2019s brother. He\u2019s also the older brother of Bears LB Noah Sewell, who is on IR.<\/p>\n
