Jameis Winston wasn\u2019t getting lucky in 2019.<\/p>\n

But he sure was making things happen on the football field. <\/p>\n

The Giants quarterback revealed on Wednesday\u2019s episode of the Kelce brothers\u2019 \u201cNew Heights\u201d podcast<\/a> that during his 2019 campaign with the Buccaneers, he was not only playing for a new contract but also had gotten engaged.<\/p>\n

But during that period of time, Winston said he and his now wife, Breion Allen, withheld from having sex.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was a contract year for me, man. It was one of the most up-and-down years off the field that I had in my life, too,\u201d Winston said. \u201cI had just asked my wife to marry me and I was doing this freakin\u2019 celibacy thing \u2026 like literally refraining from sex, man.\u201d<\/p>\n

Because of how his parents felt about him living with Allen \u2014 or as they called it \u201cshacking\u201d \u2014 before they were married, Winston said he had a new property but was not living there. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe had to eliminate that,\u201d Winston added as Travis and Jason Kelce both laughed. \u201cI literally bought a property and was staying away from my house. It was so much going on.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou were wound up in the pocket,\u201d Travis, the Chiefs star tight end, added.<\/p>\n

On the field that season, Winston led the NFL in passing yards (5,109) attempts (626) and threw a career-best 33 touchdowns, though he was also the league leader in interceptions (30). He ended up signing a one-year deal with the Saints after the year, playing in New Orleans the next four seasons.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

As for being part of Big Blue\u2019s quarterback room now, Winston said he immediately could tell rookie Jaxson Dart was a \u201cdog\u201d upon joining the Giants and put in plenty of \u201csweat equity.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is obsessed with football,\u201d Winston said of Dart. \u201cAnybody that\u2019s coming in to be our head coach<\/a>, you gotta know you\u2019ve got a guy that wants to win, he\u2019s gonna win because he\u2019s obsessed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Winston did add that he wants Dart to improve with his calculated risk-taking, particularly with how he uses his legs outside of the pocket. <\/p>\n

With the Giants looking to fill their head coaching void \u2014 as they await John Harbaugh\u2019s decision <\/a>\u2014 Winston said he wants the team to add someone who can bring \u201cconsistency\u201d in the locker room.<\/p>\n
