Let’s make it 13! There are now thirteen candidates the Arizona Cardinals<\/a> have either already interviewed or requested to interview to replace Jonathan Gannon as head coach. The latest name is Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith.<\/p>\n

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler<\/a>, the Cardinals submitted a request to interview Smith.<\/p>\n

Arthur Smith coaching career<\/p>\n

Smith had his first NFL stint in 2007 with the Washington Redskins<\/a> as defensive quality control coach for two seasons.<\/p>\n

He was out of the NFL and in college until 2011 when he started with the Tennessee Titans<\/a> and was on that staff for 10 years. He began as a defensive quality control coach. He was offensive quality control coach. He coached the offensive line. He was an assistant tight ends coach and a tight ends coach before becoming offensive coordinator in 2019, a job he held for two seasons.<\/p>\n

He then became the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. He went 7-10 with the Falcons for three straight years before getting fired and taking the OC job with the Steelers in 2024.<\/p>\n

While with the Titans, he worked with different head coaches \u2014 Mike Munchak, Ken Whisenhunt, Mike Mularkey and Mike Vrabel. ‘<\/p>\n

He was in his final year as OC of the Titans when Cardinals general manager Monti Ossenfort had his first year in Tennessee as director of player personnel.<\/p>\n
