No surprise: John Morton’s back in Denver (which was easy to predict<\/a>).<\/p>\n There’s been no word yet on Morton officially being hired, but the 56-year-old coach was spotted at Broncos<\/a> practice on Wednesday ahead of the team’s divisional round playoff game against the Buffalo Bills<\/a> this weekend.<\/p>\n Morton was just fired by the Detroit Lions<\/a> last week after one season as their offensive coordinator. Before that stint in Detroit, Morton previously coached under Sean Payton with the New Orleans Saints<\/a> (2015-2016) and again in Denver (2023-2024). He was a pass game coordinator with the Broncos before returning to the Lions<\/a>, where he was a senior offensive assistant in 2022.<\/p>\n There have been no official announcements so far, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see Morton end up back on Payton’s staff, especially if Denver loses coaches to other clubs this offseason. At least four Broncos assistants are being pursued by other teams<\/a>, including quarterbacks coach Davis Webb.<\/p>\n Denver’s unlikely to make potential coaching staff changes before the season ends.<\/p>\n Need a news break?
