{"id":679703,"date":"2026-01-15T17:01:21","date_gmt":"2026-01-15T17:01:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/679703\/"},"modified":"2026-01-15T17:01:21","modified_gmt":"2026-01-15T17:01:21","slug":"was-dj-turner-snubbed-by-all-pro-voters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/679703\/","title":{"rendered":"Was DJ Turner snubbed by All-Pro voters?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">At one point, the 2025-26 Cincinnati Bengals were on pace to be the worst defense ever.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">After the bye, things improved enough for them to finish being just bad, not historically bad.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">So the panel that votes for the All Pro teams probably didn\u2019t consider any individual players from the Bengals\u2019 defense too seriously.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">But if you look at DJ Turner\u2019s performance in a vacuum, you can make a strong argument that he was one of the top corners in the league.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">As you can see in the graphic below, Turner was the primary defender for the majority of snaps of a lot of WR1s and kept them to modest games.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Further, the poor play around him should actually support his case, as it\u2019s difficult to keep receivers from making plays with no real pass rush threat. Myles Murphy led the team in sacks with 5.5, but even he didn\u2019t really emerge until later in the season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">All of this should just be motivation for Turner to play with even more fire next year.
