Former Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores is out touring the NFL this week<\/a>. And since he\u2019s a coaching free agent, B-Flo is \u201cfree\u201d to take interviews with whatever potential employee he may be interested in working for.<\/p>\n So far, that list includes the Baltimore Ravens<\/a> and Pittsburgh Steelers<\/a>, who are interviewing him as a head coach, along with the Washington Commanders<\/a>, who are interested in bringing him in as their defensive coordinator.<\/p>\n Minnesota Vikings waiting on Brian Flores to shop around<\/p>\n Flores has also received interest from the Raiders (HC)<\/a> and Cowboys (DC)<\/a>. Yet\u2026 all the MN Vikings can do is sit on the offer they\u2019ve already made B-Flo\u2026 and watch as their defense flirts with rival teams.<\/p>\n That was not a typo. Brian Flores is the Minnesota Vikings\u2019 defense, which ranked top five in most major statistical categories<\/a> for team defense in 2025. Without B-Flo in the equation, there are probably even more questions surrounding the Vikings\u2019 2026 defense, than offense.<\/p>\n Earlier this week, head coach Kevin O\u2019Connell told reporters gathered in Eagan<\/a> that he expects Brian Flores to return as MN Vikings defensive coordinator, if he does not receive the head coaching opportunity he is looking for on the open market. <\/p>\n According to just about every media member in town and nationally, money is not the problem in bringing back Flores, something Ch. 5 Eyewitness News sports insider, Darren Wolfson<\/a>, reiterated on the latest episode of Purple Daily (SKOR North)<\/a>, Thursday.<\/p>\n \u201cI am led to believe the Wolves are willing to compensate Flo very, very well. I don\u2019t think it is going to be a money thing. It\u2019s not going to be money. It\u2019s not going to be financial.\u201d<\/p>\n Daren Wolfson \u2013 Purple Daily (SKOR North)<\/a><\/p>\n So if Minnesota\u2019s offer isn\u2019t what\u2019s holding Brian Flores back from returning as Vikings DC, then what\u2019s really going on in Eagan? Well, if you are asking those questions, you aren\u2019t the only one.<\/p>\n Drama behind the Vikings scenes?<\/p>\n Others are starting to wonder what\u2019s happening behind the scenes at TCO Performance Center, as well. But the smoke remains, because there are too many plugged in people reporting the same thing. Until these rumors are fleshed out or Flores returns, the firestorm is prone to kicking up at any time.<\/p>\n That brings us back to Thursday episode of Purple Daily<\/a>, where the previously mentioned local insider, Darren Wolfson<\/a>, was trying his best to pour baking soda on the hot coals of this smouldering rumor of possible Vikings vs Flores internal beef.<\/p>\n Local insiders spar over legitimacy of Brian Flores + Vikings beef<\/p>\n On today\u2019s show, Wolfson tried reporting to hosts Phil Mackey<\/a>, Judd Zulgad<\/a> and Declan Goff<\/a> that his insider sources close to the MN Vikings do NOT lead him to believe there is any measurable schism between anyone inside the organization and Flores.<\/p>\n But Mackey \u2014 a veteran reporter<\/a> who\u2019s worked decades between the Twins, Timberwolves and Vikings beat and has plenty of connections within his own rolodex \u2014 was not up for his good friend\u2019s propaganda session.<\/p>\n Phil cut Darren off, and stated pretty bluntly that there IS a non-football-related drama happening behind the scenes at TCO Performance Center, and that reporters either don\u2019t have a good handle on exactly what it is OR they just aren\u2019t putting it out for public consumption.<\/p>\n This was quite a moment this morning on Purple Daily (@SKORNorth<\/a>) \u2014 Mackey straight-up challenges Doogie’s reporting on current relations between the Vikings and Brian Flores\u2026 \ud83d\udc40<\/p>\n Wolfson: “I have not heard of any sort of schism with KOC, or others\u2026I have not heard of any\u2026 pic.twitter.com\/mW9CT6BweU<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 Minnesota Sports Fan (@realmnsportsfan) January 15, 2026<\/a> <\/p>\n Wolfson: \u201cI have not heard of any sort of schism with KOC, or others\u2026I have not heard of any sort of fallout [between] Flo and others out in Eagan\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n Mackey: \u201cThere is drama in some form behind the scenes. The exact nature of it has not come out.\u201d<\/p>\n Wolfson: \u201cWell, define drama, Phil, because expectations were enormous this year, even if Vegas said 8.5 over under, right?\u201d<\/p>\n Mackey: \u201cIt\u2019s not that. It\u2019s not football. There\u2019s something off, behind the scenes with Brian Flores, that\u2019s not football\u2026There\u2019s enough smoke here, where him going to interview for a DC job makes it even more interesting\u2026.\u201d<\/p>\n Purple Daily \u2013 SKOR North<\/a><\/p>\n Mackey goes on to vaguely highlight some widely unreported \u201cthreads\u201d around the internet that have been swirling out some interesting speculation recently. He\u2019s likely referring to a since-deleted Instagram post that hit the internet over a year ago.<\/p>\n I never saw the post, but in it, a former Vikings assistant apparently made some pretty bold accusations against the inner-workings of the organization, one of which took aim at Flores.<\/p>\n I will link here<\/a> for more information and details regarding the who\/what\/when\/how of those accusations.
