On Thursday morning, it was revealed that former Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh and the New York Giants were in agreement to bring the 63-year-old coach on board as the new head coach of the franchise. As a result, the Miami Dolphins found out that they would not get a chance to interview Harbaugh for their own head coaching vacancy.<\/p>\n
On Thursday evening, it was revealed by Connor Hughes \u2014 a reporter for SNY in New York \u2014 that Harbaugh might not be done hurting the Dolphins.<\/p>\n
On a post made to social media, Hughes reported that current Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver is among the candidates who Harbaugh is interested in hiring for the same position with the Giants. Weaver is the only candidate Hughes mentioned by name.<\/p>\n
While technically still under contract in Miami, whoever the Dolphins hire as their new head coach will have the option to hire his own staff \u2014 including new offensive and defensive coordinators. If Weaver were to express his desire to join Harbaugh in New York, the Dolphins would likely let him leave, even though they would have the ability to block a lateral move.<\/p>\n
If Weaver does leave for the Giants defensive coordinator job, Miami would no longer be eligible to receive two third-round compensatory selections in the event that a team hired Weaver as a head coach in the future.<\/p>\n
