WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. — Los Angeles Rams lineback Jred Verse is looking forward to facing Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cYeah I mean Caleb he obviously he\u2019s a Heisman winner for a reason he was the number one pick, I have a lot of respect for him,” verse said on Thursday. “He\u2019s very athletic, he\u2019s very nimble, he\u2019s very able to get away from anything you bring to him.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The 25 year old Jared Verse, who was named AP Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2024, and recently selected to the 2026 Prowl Bowl, is known for being a vocal leader amongst the defense. His ability to read an offense is impressive, and he is clearly using those skills of his to prepare for the Bears bit by bit.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Between the regular season and the postseason the Chicago Bears have come up with seven comeback wins. To be clear, their most recent comeback win came as the Bears made up for their early mistakes against the Packers and scored 25 points in the 4th quarter alone to win their Wild Card Round matchup. Verse clearly understands what Chicago\u2019s offense is capable of, and he connects it to the identity makeup of that team.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\u201cYeah I mean Chicago they have a very good culture over there, you know they\u2019re gonna keep going it doesn\u2019t matter if they\u2019re down it doesn\u2019t matter if they\u2019re up, they\u2019re gonna keep pushing. You know obviously the seven comebacks we\u2019ve spoken about, that’s something that they obviously live by, like they don\u2019t care if they\u2019re down\u201d\u2026 Verse went on to say, \u201cbasketball it takes a lot of plays to come back, football if you’re down by three scores it takes three plays to come back.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Verse is right here, although his example was hypothetically coming back from three scores, in the Rams Wild Card Round game, they managed a comeback win with less than three minutes left in the game. In the first round of the playoffs, Verse had a tackle and led the Rams defense in quarterback hits with two. Verse mentioned that they are focusing on stopping Williams\u2019s ability to scrabble. He pointed to the Rams regular season game against the Panthers as the moment they learned that people can run the ball on you if you don\u2019t come prepared.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe don’t lose, we learn,\u201d said Rams Head Coach Sean McVay earlier on in the season. It seems that this sentiment is shared amongst the Rams defense.
