Day has spent the last two seasons working on Jim Harbaugh’s staff as the quarterbacks coach.<\/p>\n
It was his second stint in Los Angeles, as he previously held the same role, and was also the Passing Game Coordinator, for the team during the 2021 and 2022 seasons.<\/p>\n
Day has worked closely with the Chargers franchise quarterback during his time with the team.<\/p>\n
Justin Herbert has achieved two Pro Bowl nods with Day as the position coach in 2021 and 2025 as well as seen some of his most efficient years with him.<\/p>\n
During the 2024 season, Herbert led the NFL with a 0.6 interception percentage and set a career mark with a 101.7 quarterback rating in 17 games.<\/p>\n
Not to mention, Herbert also set his career-high passing yardage seasons with Day as the quarterbacks coach when he threw for 5,014 yards in 2021 and 4,739 in 2022.<\/p>\n
The quarterbacks coach has an extensive history coaching at the NFL level.<\/p>\n
After getting his break as an offensive quality control coach from 2007 to 2009, Day has spent eight different stints with teams as a coach.<\/p>\n
He’s spent multiple seasons with Chicago, Washington, Miami, another stint with San Francisco and with Houston aside from his two chapters with the Chargers.<\/p>\n
4. Work at other positions<\/p>\n
Day has coached other positions during his career aside from the quarterback.<\/p>\n
The coach spent two seasons as an assistant offensive line coach in Washington during the 2014 and 2015 seasons before being hired to coach tight ends with the Dolphins.<\/p>\n
He would go on to spend three seasons at that position in Miami.<\/p>\n
Day began his coaching career in the high school ranks.<\/p>\n
From 2001 to 2004, Day spent his time coaching at Auburn Riverside high school in Washington, going from wide receivers coach, quarterbacks coach and eventually offensive coordinator.<\/p>\n
