Years of kicking the can down the road have left them in salary cap purgatory. After the sudden retirement of quarterback Derek Carr, they’ll be relying on unproven quarterbacks Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler to lead the offense.

Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix (10) throws downfield during the second quarter against the Buffalo Bills.Mark Konezny-Imagn Images

Entering a contract year, Olave would understandably not want to undergo a rebuild to cash in on his second contract.

Enter the Broncos, who should be on the hunt for more weapons to compete in a stacked AFC West. Olave would be a perfect addition to the Denver offense and would complement Sutton’s skill set well, lining up opposite him.

The Broncos would also be able to sign Olave long-term, as previously mentioned, they won’t be paying Nix major quarterback money for at least another four seasons.

Sending out a 2026 second-round pick should get the deal done for the former Ohio State product, and he would be happier in Denver with a brilliant offensive coach in Payton and a rising star in Nix than he would be in New Orleans for a rookie quarterback and head coach.

If Denver wants to capitalize on their current window and stack the deck for their offense going forward, it should consider making the call.

Related: Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes Had Impact on Broncos’ Bo Nix Decision

The Denver Broncos have a window.
