CLEVELAND, Ohio (TheOBR.com<\/a>) Good morning, Cleveland Browns fans!<\/p>\n

THE DAILY BLOVIATION<\/p>\n

The coaching search continues apace, with Nate Scheelhaase, the Rams\u2019 passing game coordinator, interviewing with the Browns and three other teams today. Scheelhaase is a very fashionable name in the coaching search, as teams look for the next great offensive mind akin to Sean McVay<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been a little leery of Scheelhaase, simply because he\u2019s been working with a very experienced quarterback in Matthew Stafford, and it\u2019s hard for me to tell how much of the Rams\u2019 success is Scheelhaase and how much is the quarterback. Scheelhaase is a quarterback himself, having played at the University of Illinois, where he set several school passing records. He\u2019s worked on the offensive side of the ball for his career, and would need a strong defensive mind to work with (hello, Jim Schwartz!).<\/p>\n

At this stage in the game, with so many coaches and openings in play, some still in the playoffs, it wouldn\u2019t surprise me if the Browns\u2019 coaching search extends through the Super Bowl, unless they simply fall in love with a candidate.<\/p>\n

I NEED NEW TOYS: The OBR forums<\/a> continue to be very popular, and are actually increasing in popularity over the last two years as people tire of unmoderated social media, trolls, and the like. But they\u2019re not perfect. In Ask the Insiders<\/a>, for example, we are challenged by things like repeat questions, thread titles that don\u2019t describe the question, and some folks who insist on replying to questions when they\u2019re not supposed to.<\/p>\n

Since I don\u2019t control the technology on 247Sports, all I can do is ask our partners to tweak the tech to help resolve some of these issues. Lately, though, I\u2019ve been messing around with AI as a potential solution to some of these problems. AI could provide recaps of forum activity, for example, to help people keep up on what has been discussed or help us quickly spot titles that need to be changed. I\u2019m excited about the possibilities and hope to spend some of the quieter Summer months working on this to improve the experience for our VIP members.<\/p>\n

THE AFC NORTH IS THERE FOR THE TAKING: Given the Browns\u2019 poor record the last two years, it\u2019s probably not a great time to make plans about a Browns AFC North dynasty. But the opportunity is there. The Steelers have been in the purgatory of mediocrity for quite some time, and now have to replace a head coach who was part of their system for almost two decades. They have no answer at quarterback, and none coming in the draft, unless they\u2019re willing to take a flier on someone like Ty Simpson.<\/p>\n

LIkewise, the Ravens have issues, having just fired their head coach and being dependent on a player in Lamar Jackson who is not always healthy. The Bengals are the Bengals, and are poorly run. They have a few more years of the Burrow\/Chase era left to go, but I have little confidence in their ability to build a team around them.<\/p>\n

All I\u2019m saying is that the Browns have a chance to take advantage of the situation in the AFC North. Now, about the quarterback position…<\/p>\n

This effort created a lot of data, which the team has been weeding through ever since. But out of all the signals, computer analysis identified about 1000 that needed a human to look at them.
