{"id":682372,"date":"2026-01-16T18:21:12","date_gmt":"2026-01-16T18:21:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/682372\/"},"modified":"2026-01-16T18:21:12","modified_gmt":"2026-01-16T18:21:12","slug":"notre-dames-marcus-freeman-guests-on-espn-college-gameday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/682372\/","title":{"rendered":"Notre Dame&#8217;s Marcus Freeman guests on ESPN College GameDay"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The exposure <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/coach\/marcus-freeman-82674\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Marcus Freeman<\/a> gleaned during Notre Dame\u2019s run to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game last winter was a gift that kept on giving \u2014 especially on the recruiting trail.<\/p>\n<p>Well, it\u2019s happening again Monday night, but with a twist.<\/p>\n<p>The fifth-year Irish head football coach will be on site and on set as a guest analyst with the <a href=\"https:\/\/promo.espn.com\/collegegameday\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ESPN College GameDay<\/a> crew at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla., ahead of the national title matchup between top-seeded Indiana and 10 seed Miami. Coverage starts at 5 p.m. EST. He\u2019ll also appear with host Rece Davis and GameDay analysts Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee and Nick Saban at halftime.<\/p>\n<p>Broadcast time for the game on ESPN is 7:30 p.m. EST.<\/p>\n<p>The Irish played in last year\u2019s CFP National Championship Game in Atlanta, falling to Ohio State, 34-23.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If nothing else, Freeman will get a close-up look at a future opponent in Miami, which is penciled in for a matchup at Notre Dame Stadium on Nov. 7.<\/p>\n<p>The Irish won 10 straight games this season after an 0-2 start and finished No. 9 in the Dec. 7 AP and Coaches polls. But the CFP committee ranked the Irish 11th, with No. 10 being the cut line for at-large teams.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we look at that moment a month plus later,\u201d Freeman said at a press conference Wednesday at Notre Dame covering a variety of topics, \u201cit was obviously disappointing. But you have to move forward. And that\u2019s what we\u2019ve done as a program. That\u2019s what I\u2019ve done as a leader.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd as I reminded the group on our team meeting on Sunday, it\u2019s our responsibility to make sure we leave no doubt.
