After a lot of posturing about things being set to happen, John Harbaugh will be the newest New York Giants head coach. Time will tell how this works out, but this is certainly eyebrow-raising news as far as the Dallas Cowboys are concerned. John Harbaugh may have lost his top fastball speed, but we are talking about one of the most successful coaches in modern NFL history here. At the very least, the Giants have the most legitimate head coach in charge in quite some time.<\/p>\n
Harbaugh has won a Super Bowl, he and the Baltimore Ravens won Super Bowl XLVII 13 years ago (time sure does fly). Interestingly, he will now be the third head coach in the NFC East who has at the very least appeared in the NFL\u2019s ultimate game.<\/p>\n
Brian Schottenheimer is the only NFC East head coach without a Super Bowl appearance<\/p>\n
Harbaugh\u2019s Super Bowl win was not with his new team in the Giants, but they are hiring him because they believe he is capable of doing it again.<\/p>\n
The Washington Commanders hired Dan Quinn two years ago because of the defensive success he had with the Cowboys as we know, but also because of the success he had with the Atlanta Falcons. Quinn led Atlanta to Super Bowl LI, although they lost that game, and did so in the most heartbreaking way possible.<\/p>\n
Nick Sirianni has led the Philadelphia Eagles to multiple Super Bowls and won last year\u2019s (interestingly in the same building where John Harbaugh won his lone title). He is the only NFC East head coach who has appeared in the Super Bowl with the team he is actually coaching.<\/p>\n
Unfortunately Brian Schottenheimer is now the only NFC East head coach without an appearance of such kind. To be clear, Quinn and Harbaugh have not had the success every team is looking for with their current teams as noted, although Quinn did lead Washington to the NFC Championship Game last year, but this is an interesting data point in the world we now live in.<\/p>\n
