{"id":683830,"date":"2026-01-17T08:54:28","date_gmt":"2026-01-17T08:54:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/683830\/"},"modified":"2026-01-17T08:54:28","modified_gmt":"2026-01-17T08:54:28","slug":"jaguars-among-teams-with-most-dead-salary-cap-in-2026-offseason","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/683830\/","title":{"rendered":"Jaguars among teams with most dead salary cap in 2026 offseason"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Updated Jan. 16, 2026, 11:03 a.m. ET<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">In the 2026 NFL season, only a few teams will have more dead cap on their salary cap books than the<a href=\"\/\" data-t-l=\":b|e|k|\u2691u\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\"> Jacksonville Jaguars<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Dead cap is money that still counts against a team&#8217;s salary cap, even if that player is no longer on the team.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Dead money is dollars that have been paid to a player but haven&#8217;t yet been accounted for against the salary cap. Just because a player is released or traded, some of those cap charges still have to hit the books.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">According to <a href=\"https:\/\/overthecap.com\/salary-cap-space\" data-t-l=\":b|z|k|\u2691u\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Over the Cap<\/a>, the Jaguars will have $43.86 million in dead cap on the books in 2026.
