KANSAS City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid will have a massive Travis Kelce decision to make for the upcoming season.<\/p>\n

Kelce<\/a> is coming off a career-worst season and contemplated retirement following the Chiefs’ Super Bowl 59 blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 35-year-old Kelce had a brutal end to a disappointing 2024 campaign.<\/p>\n

He caught just four passes for 39 yards in the Chiefs’ defeat to the Eagles at the Super Bowl in February.<\/p>\n

The game ended the Chiefs’ chance of a historic three-peat.<\/p>\n

Kelce had a poor year by his standards, as his stats and performance were less than stellar.<\/p>\n

While Kelce has decided to play one more year<\/a>, head coach Reid<\/a> will have to decide whether he wants to bench the 10-time Pro Bowler, should his nothing-to-write-home-about showings continue.<\/p>\n

Kelce is the standout at the tight end position, but Reid could also look to Noah Gray.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old Gray recorded 40 receptions for 437 yards and five touchdowns – all career-highs.<\/p>\n

Rookie Jake Briningstool, Jared Wiley, Tre Watson, and veteran Robert Tonyan are all fighting for roster spots.<\/p>\n

The most notable tight end is Tonyan, who’s played seven years in the NFL<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He spent five years with the Green Bay Packers<\/a> and recorded 1,437 yards and 17 touchdowns.<\/p>\n

Wiley appeared in seven games with Kansas City last year and only recorded one reception for seven yards.<\/p>\n

A tight end to watch is the rookie out of Clemson, Briningstool, who was undrafted.<\/p>\n

Briningstool could’ve signed with other teams, but he chose the Chiefs thanks to the three-time Super Bowl-winning head coach Reid<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“That was pretty unique to hear, which kind of really stood out to me, just showing how much they valued me, how much they cared,” Briningstool said.<\/p>\n

“So I think that’s really what stuck out about here.”<\/p>\n

During his Clemson tenure, Briningstool caught 124 balls for 1,313 yards and 17 touchdowns.<\/p>\n

Briningstool will first have to make the roster, but he will hope to learn plenty from Kelce.<\/p>\n

“Yeah, I mean, obviously, you know what Travis has been able to do. I think it’s very appealing to somebody that plays tight end,” Briningstool said.<\/p>\n

“I think just being able to come in here and learn from him, learn from the other guys that really play at a high level, and just be able to, come in here and use my skill set and, see how I can make an impact.”<\/p>\n

Briningstool made an impression at the Chiefs’ rookie minicamp, and he, along with the other team’s tight ends, will look to take playing time away from Kelce in 2025.<\/p>\n
