requested to interview Jim Bob Cooter<\/a>, according to a report.<\/p>\nKafka, 38, was most recently the OC and interim head coach for the New York Giants in 2025. Kafka took over as Giants OC under Brian Daboll in the 2022 season and eventually took over as head coach in 2025 after Daboll was fired during this past season.<\/p>\n
The Eagles have a ton of familiarity with Kafka, whom they drafted in the fourth round out of Northwestern in the 2010 draft. Kafkas eventually ended up starting his NFL coaching career under Andy Reid in Kansas City in 2017. He worked his way up from quality control coach to quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He took a big jump in 2022 when he joined the Giants as offensive coordinator.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou’re looking to continue to evolve as an offense, and I’m looking to bring in the guy that’s going to best help us do that,\u201d head coach Nick Sirianni said this week. \u201cI think that there are many different ways to be successful on offense and everybody has different styles, everybody has different players, and there’s many different ways to be successful.\u201d<\/p>\n
If the Eagles are looking for an experienced play-caller, Kafka fits that. Kafka called the Giants\u2019 offensive plays for most of his time under Daboll.<\/p>\n
The Giants\u2019 best season with Kafka came in 2022, when they were 15th in points and 18th in yards. They were near the bottom of the league in both categories in 2023 and 2024. In 2025, the Giants were 17th in points and 13th in yards.<\/p>\n
A few years ago, Kafka was a hot name in head coaching searches.
