Lost in the shuffle of the weekend, sandwiched in between a Sam Darnold oblique injury and a 41-6 desecration of the Bay Area<\/a>, a head coaching hire took place. One with at least some potential implications to the Seattle Seahawks.<\/p>\n

The Atlanta Falcons hired Kevin Stefanski, becoming the second franchise to fill their vacancy and raising significant questions about Klint Kubiak.<\/p>\n

The most experienced coaches available this cycle (outside Mike Tomlin) have now been recruited. It hits Seattle in a particular way because of all the interviews and availabilities, Kubiak had most strongly been rumored and connected<\/a> to Atlanta.<\/p>\n

Regrettably, the Seahawks season is not concluding anytime soon.<\/p>\n

Kubiak was an incredibly popular interview request, but I\u2019ve not heard him connected to another team nearly as strongly as he was to the Falcons. I have been out a limb this year saying that Kubiak makes more sense as a head coach next year than this year – he\u2019s not had consecutive seasons in the same place for a long time.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s still seven spots remaining, most of them terrible except the Titans, but it would be quite a move if Kubiak actually remained in Seattle. He and Mike Macdonald\u2019s year-long commitment to a run game that didn\u2019t show up until six weeks ago has resulted in one of the most fearsome offenses in the postseason. Some day he will likely leave, but keep an eye on these other positions while the Seahawks hope to not even have him available until after February 8th.
