Buffalo Bills wide receiver Tyrell Shavers provided a post-surgery update after tearing his ACL against the Jacksonville Jaguars. <\/p>\n
Wide receiver Tyrell Shavers was praised for his play during the Buffalo Bills<\/a>\u2018 first-round playoff victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. But it came at a cost.<\/p>\n The 26-year-old tore his ACL in the first half and then played 22 of the team\u2019s 34 snaps<\/a> in the second half. The next day, former head coach Sean McDermott revealed the injury news. Shavers\u2019 season ended when he was placed on IR that same day.<\/p>\n \u201cShavers, as we talked yesterday, was going through some more tests,\u201d McDermott said,\u00a0via SI.com<\/a>. \u201cTurns out he has a torn ACL. So, he will be out for the season. Tough loss, certainly praying for him. And just amazing what he was able to do, to come back in the game and play the way that he did.\u201d<\/p>\n Shavers caught one pass for 14 yards on two targets during the game. He played an integral part throughout the game and was praised for his blocking. That included the Bills\u2019 fourth-and-1 conversion that put them on the Jaguars\u2019 one-yard line.<\/p>\n On the 4th and inches tush push late in the #Bills<\/a>\u2019 win over the #Jaguars<\/a>, Tyrell Shavers delivered a block ON A TORN ACL to drive Greg Newsome II back a few yards. Unreal. He finished his second NFL<\/a> season with 15 catches for 245 yards and one touchdown, averaging 16.3 yards per catch. Joshua Palmer was placed on injured reserve after the Jaguars\u2019 game as well. That left the Bills with five wide receivers who played roles during the season.<\/p>\n Khalil Shakir, Brandin Cooks, Keon Coleman, Curtis Samuel, and Mecole Hardman Jr. recorded snaps against the Denver Broncos<\/a>. The group combined for 12 catches, with seven of them coming from Shakir. Hardman Jr. caught Josh Allen\u2019s lone touchdown pass during the game.<\/p>\n The Buffalo Bills Need Wide Receivers<\/p>\n After finishing the season with three different receivers \u2013 Gabe Davis, Shavers, and Palmer \u2013 on injured reserve, and a lack of production from the group, the Bills need to address the position in the offseason.<\/p>\n While Shakir was Buffalo\u2019s leading wide receiver with 719 yards, tight ends and running backs made up five of Allen\u2019s top pass catchers. No wide receiver caught more than four touchdown passes, as well.<\/p>\n The Bills didn\u2019t address their need at the trade deadline and instead brought in veteran receivers like Cooks, Hardman Jr., and Davis.
