The Los Angeles Rams<\/a> are gearing up for their third NFC Championship Game of the Sean McVay era where they will face the Seattle Seahawks<\/a>. The two NFC West rivals split their first two matchups in the regular season, with Seattle winning the most recent matchup in a Thursday night classic.<\/p>\n

And while the Rams have a Super Bowl in sight, Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report<\/a> is looking ahead to the offseason, where he predicts the Rams will acquire Kansas City Chiefs<\/a> cornerback Trent McDuffie in exchange for one of their two first-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft.<\/p>\n

“We know that general manager Les Snead is not one to sit on his hands to address a need,” Ballentine writes. “Snead has a long track record of trading picks for star players. They also happen to have two first-round picks, which could pave the way for the Rams to deal their late first and use the 13th pick they got from the Falcons<\/a>. At the same time, Kansas City Chiefs general manager Brett Veach isn’t afraid to trade away players if they don’t want to pay up. McDuffie and the Chiefs attempted to negotiate a new contract ahead of the season, but\u00a0couldn’t come to terms.”<\/p>\n

“McDuffie is an ideal defensive back to anchor a secondary. His ability to play press-man coverage, combined with his positional versatility, is relatively unique. The Rams have $81.5 million in cap space, meaning they could make the trade for McDuffie, then sign him to a deal that would reset the cornerback market.”<\/p>\n

McDuffie is one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL, earning First-Team All-Pro honors back in 2023 and a Second-Team All-Pro nod in 2024. He has three career interceptions and 34 career pass deflections while helping the Chiefs win two Super Bowls.<\/p>\n
