John Harbaugh has reportedly begun making brutal changes to the New York Giants<\/a> with longtime executive Kevin Abrams one of several early casualties of the new regime.<\/p>\n

Former Ravens coach Harbaugh, who took over the Giants on Saturday, has reportedly also told a number of coaches that they will not be needed next season as New York looks to rebuild after yet another dismal campaign.<\/p>\n

Harbaugh will be looking to revive the Giants with the help of young stars including quarterback Jaxon Dart, running back Cam Skattebo, wide receiver Malik Nabers and linebacker Abdul Carter.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, during his introductory press conference, the new coach said that the Giants have ‘great coaches… on this staff that we\u2019re looking forward to talking to.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

But, according to ESPN<\/a>, special teams coordinator Michael Ghobrial and most of the existing defensive staff have been let go. Among them is defensive line coach Andre Patterson, who joined the Giants in 2022 and battled through prostate cancer<\/a>\u00a0this season.<\/p>\n

SNY claimed<\/a>\u00a0that some coaches were told to clean out their offices without even having a meeting with the new head coach.<\/p>\n

But, at the time of writing, Harbaugh is the sole coach listed on the Giants website and, according to the New York Post, outside linebackers coach-turned interim defensive coordinator Charlie Bullen is the only defensive assistant from last season who might have a job next season.<\/p>\n

Abrams, meanwhile, joined the Giants back in 1999 and was a key part of the front office when the team won two Super Bowls.<\/p>\n

He worked as assistant general manager for more than two decades and was most recently senior vice president of football operations and strategy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But,\u00a0as reported by ESPN<\/a>, he is now leaving the organization\u00a0after more than 25 years in New York. The decision is said to be part of ‘organizational restructuring’ in New York.<\/p>\n

Abrams spent 27 seasons with the Giants and was one of the longest-serving members of the organization.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

He was said to be well respected and his\u00a0other roles included\u00a0vice president of football operations and salary cap analyst.<\/p>\n

Abrams was a mainstay with the organization despite a tumultuous past decade.\u00a0The Giants have reached the postseason just once in the past nine seasons, a run which has seen them burn through seven full-time or interim head coaches.<\/p>\n
