{"id":696784,"date":"2026-01-22T17:17:17","date_gmt":"2026-01-22T17:17:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/696784\/"},"modified":"2026-01-22T17:17:17","modified_gmt":"2026-01-22T17:17:17","slug":"eagles-missing-out-on-top-coordinator-candidates-after-house-egging-drama","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/696784\/","title":{"rendered":"Eagles missing out on top coordinator candidates after house-egging drama"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Prospective NFL coaches aren\u2019t ignoring red flags.<\/p>\n<p>With the Eagles\u2019 offensive coordinator position still vacant, former NFL offensive lineman Ross Tucker did a temperature check this week about how potential candidates may feel about the role, particularly after the treatment of 2025 OC Kevin Patullo, who drew the ire of the team\u2019s passionate fan base and had his home vandalized.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe way Patullo was treated, let\u2019s just say this \u2013 anybody that\u2019s a coach in the NFL is very well aware of what it is like to be in Philadelphia in general, to be the offensive coordinator in particular,\u201d Tucker, a color commentator for Eagles preseason games, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.phillyvoice.com\/eagles-offensive-coordinator-search-philadelphia-reputation-fans-nfl-ross-tucker-wip\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">said on the Philadelphia-based WIP<\/a>, according to the Philly Voice. \u201cThey know about\u00a0Patullo\u2019s house being egged, they know what the environment here is like.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"38253456\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/offensive-coordinator-kevin-patullo-philadelphia-118719395_34f2ba.jpg\" alt=\"Kevin Patullo was relieved of his duties after one season as the Eagles' offensive coordinator.\" class=\"wp-image-38253456\"  \/>Kevin Patullo was relieved of his duties after one season as the Eagles\u2019 offensive coordinator. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Patullo, who took over as offensive coordinator following Kellen Moore\u2019s departure for the top Saints job last offseason, was a target of criticism throughout the year amid the team\u2019s struggles on his side of the ball.<\/p>\n<p>Fan frustration boiled over following a home loss to the Bears in late November, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/12\/01\/sports\/fans-egged-eagles-coordinator-kevin-patullos-home-after-loss-to-bears\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">with Patullo\u2019s home getting egged<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>He was relieved of his duties earlier this month following a first-round playoff exit to the 49ers, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/12\/sports\/eagles-ripped-for-sickening-final-play-call-with-offseason-of-turmoil-ahead\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">when his play-calling was heavily scrutinized<\/a> once again.<\/p>\n<p>As the Eagles currently comb through a pool of candidates, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/21\/sports\/brian-daboll-interviews-for-eagles-offensive-coordinator-job\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">including former Giants coach Brian Daboll<\/a>, Tucker cautioned that coaches with opportunities elsewhere will heavily weigh their options when making a decision on Philly.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"38253485\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/giants-head-coach-brian-daboll-95974765.jpg\" alt=\"Brian Daboll\" class=\"wp-image-38253485\"  \/>Brian Daboll, formerly coach of the Giants, has been linked to several NFL openings. Bill Kostroun for New York Post<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe point is when any of these guys that have other options, like Brian Daboll \u2026 when these guys are sitting down with their wife and their kids or their family and they\u2019re talking about, \u2018OK, where do you live, what are the expectations, what\u2019s the weather like, where do we want our kids to go to school?\u2019 The way Philadelphia is, it\u2019s not a positive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daboll, who served as head coach of the Giants for three-and-a-half seasons, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/21\/sports\/brian-daboll-to-interview-with-bills-after-sean-mcdermott-firing\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">has emerged as a candidate for the top Bills job<\/a> after Sean McDermott\u2019s firing.<\/p>\n<p>Should Daboll not get his second head-coaching opportunity with the Bills, where he previously served as the team\u2019s offensive coordinator, the expectation is <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/DMRussini\/status\/2013987676756582692\" rel=\"nofollow\">he will be the offensive coordinator on new Titans coach Robert Saleh\u2019s staff<\/a>, The Athletic reported. <\/p>\n<p>That means Daboll would choose to work alongside last year\u2019s No. 1 pick, Cam Ward, instead of the Eagles\u2019 superstar lineup of Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley.<\/p>\n<p>Former Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel took the Chargers offensive coordinator position after reportedly being a top choice of the Eagles.<\/p>\n<p>Another Eagles option is also off the board with Zac Robinson, who is expected to become the Buccaneers\u2019 next offensive coordinator.<\/p>\n<p>The NFC North appears to be the latest division in Philly\u2019s sights, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/DMRussini\/status\/2014337662849626488\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">with The Athletic reporting<\/a> Thursday the team is requesting an interview with Bears offensive coordinator Declan Doyle.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Prospective NFL coaches aren\u2019t ignoring red flags.
