The Buffalo Bills are going through major changes following their overtime loss to the Denver Broncos<\/a> in the AFC divisional round. After once again failing to reach the Super Bowl, the Bills fired head coach Sean McDermott.<\/p>\n

For Bills quarterback Josh Allen, McDermott was the only head coach he\u2019s worked with since landing in Buffalo in 2018. While Bills owner Terry Pegula said Allen didn\u2019t have a role<\/a> in McDermott getting fired, he also said the Bills\u2019 franchise star will be a part of the team that hires the new head coach.<\/p>\n

Amid the heartbreak and turmoil at One Bills Drive, the team received some celebratory news on January 22. Allen was named a finalist for the Associated Press 2025 NFL Most Valuable Player Award.<\/p>\n

Allen walked away with the award last year, and this latest nod makes him a three-time finalist. The winner will be announced at the NFL Honors on Feb. 5 in San Francisco before Super Bowl LX.<\/p>\n

Thursday also proved to be a huge day for Allen\u2019s wife, Hailee Steinfeld, as the 2026 Academy Award nominations were announced. Steinfeld, who\u2019s pregnant<\/a> with the couple\u2019s first baby, received both incredible and disappointing news.<\/p>\n

Steinfeld appeared as \u201cMary\u201d in the hit film \u201cSinners.\u201d The movie made history with a record 16 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture. The previous record was held by \u201cAll About Eve,\u201d \u201cTitanic,\u201d and \u201cLa La Land, all of which earned 14 nominations.<\/p>\n

\u201cSinners\u201d campaigned for all their talent, with Michael B. Jordan snagging an Oscar nomination for Actor in a Leading Role and Delroy Lindo nominated for Actor in a Supporting Role. For Actress in a Supporting Role, Wunmi Mosaku earned an Oscar nomination, but Steinfeld did not.<\/p>\n

While Steinfeld may be disappointed, she\u2019s also likely beyond thrilled for her co-star. Steinfeld gave Mosaku a shoutout in last week\u2019s issue of her newsletter, Beau Society.<\/p>\n

She wrote, \u201cMy dear friend Wunmi announced her pregnancy at the Globes! At our table, she told me that in Yoruba, there\u2019s a saying \u201d\u00ccy\u00e1 ni W\u00far\u00e0\u201c, which translates to \u2018Mother is gold,\u2019 which is why she chose to wear yellow. Wunmi is so special. I\u2019d love to bring her on for a future issue sometime soon.\u201d<\/p>\n

Steinfeld, of course, famously earned an Oscar nomination at age 14 for her role in the movie, \u201cGrit.\u201d<\/p>\n

During an interview featured on HBO\u2019s Hard Knocks before the 2025 NFL season started, Allen gushed over his wife\u2019s performance in \u201cSinners\u201d and gave the movie an A+.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause it combines a lot of different aspects of life,\u201d Allen said. \u201cMy wife absolutely kills it, and hopefully, award season coming around, people make the right decision.\u201d Steinfeld earned a Chicago Indie Critics award nomination<\/a> for her role in the movie.<\/p>\n

He also cried the first time he watched the movie. \u201cI was just so proud of her,\u201d Allen explained. \u201cI get emotional thinking about it, but it was a pretty cool experience.\u201d Allen attended multiple of the film\u2019s premieres during the offseason. \u201cI\u2019m just there trying to support her, in whatever way that I can,\u201d Allen said. \u201cAnd that was her moment, and I\u2019m so glad she got to shine.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fans hope to see Allen and Steinfeld hit the red carpet together at the 98th Academy Awards ceremony on March 15 in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n
