The Buffalo Bills<\/a> set the NFL world on fire.<\/p>\n

Then threw some gas on it.<\/p>\n

The Bills first shocked football by firing head coach Sean McDermott after falling 33-30 to the Denver Broncos<\/a> in the AFC divisional round in a controversial conclusion.<\/p>\n

Along with firing McDermott<\/a>, the team promoted general manager Beane to President of Football Operations as well.<\/p>\n

After some waiting, Beane and team owner finally held an end-of-season press conference… and that’s where the added fuel to the came from. It’s one that will be remember for a long time in Buffalo.<\/p>\n

With that, here are eight quick takeaways from the Pegula-Beane presser:<\/p>\n

How the decision was made<\/p>\n

Everyone saw how upset Bills quarterback Josh Allen was about losing to the Broncos<\/a> during his post-game press conference. Allen evidently was like that in Buffalo’s locker room, too.<\/p>\n

Pegula said the decision to fire McDermott falls on him, fully, and seeing Allen’s emotions played a part:<\/p>\n

Allen had no say<\/p>\n

That is the extent of Allen’s “involvement” in Pegula’s decision.<\/p>\n

A “wall” hit<\/p>\n

Further detailing the decision to fire McDermott, Pegula said he felt like the Bills had hit a “playoff wall.” The owner did not believe McDermott would be the man that could take Buffalo to the next step… a.k.a. the Super Bowl:<\/p>\n

Where it went off the rails<\/p>\n

With some baselines to start, here’s where things really hit the fan.<\/p>\n

In the middle of a question aimed at Beane, Pegula interjected and brought up the decision to draft Keon Coleman.<\/p>\n

The wide receiver has struggled in his two-year career and Pegula most certainly did not mean to sound so overly negative. Just because he owns a team does not mean he is a good public speaker. That is why Pegula rarely does press conferences.<\/p>\n

Pegula sounded awful in saying the coaching staff, aka McDermott, is the one who wanted Coleman. Not him or Beane.<\/p>\n

Beane went on to try and pick up some pieces but damage was done.<\/p>\n

The bad look rolled on from there:<\/p>\n

Players found out the wrong way<\/p>\n

Another tough look for the Bills: The front office did not tell players about McDermott. The locker room found out through the media like the rest of us:<\/p>\n

Beane defending himself<\/p>\n

Looking at the situation as a whole, Beane’s promotion while McDermott is fired… some believe there could be a power struggle that was going on behind closed doors. One that appears to be won by Beane.<\/p>\n

Beane flat out denied that and took offense to knocks against his character when asked about such a scenario:<\/p>\n

Josh’s health and moving forward<\/p>\n

On a lighter note, it was said that Allen could have a medical procedure done on his foot injury this offseason. In addition, while he was not part of the decision to fire McDermott, he will have a say in the next head coach according to Pegula.<\/p>\n

No change at GM<\/p>\n

New promotion and all, Beane will not be moving on from his general manager duties… for those curious.<\/p>\n
