Brian Daboll still in the mix?<\/p>\n
Earlier this week, The Athletic reported<\/a> that Daboll is expected to be the new Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator if he doesn\u2019t land the Buffalo Bills head coaching job.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n However, the latest buzz from NFL insider Jeremy Fowler<\/a> suggests that Daboll to Philly hasn\u2019t been ruled out:<\/p>\n I\u2019m not totally convinced former Giants head coach Brian Daboll is off the table, though there\u2019s not much buzz there at the moment.<\/p>\n There\u2019s currently an article on Music City Miracles titled: \u201cHow long can Titans wait for Brian Daboll to make a decision?<\/a>\u201d And it\u2019s a fair question. The longer Daboll keeps them waiting, the greater the chance the Titans miss out on their top backup options at offensive coordinator. Maybe the Titans grow impatient and go with someone else but Daboll doesn\u2019t get the Bills job, leaving him available for the Eagles?<\/p>\n We\u2019ll see.<\/p>\n Eagles granted permission to interview Declan Doyle<\/p>\n On Thursday, we learned that the Eagles requested permission to interview Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Declan Doyle<\/a>. On Friday, we learned that the Eagles were granted that permission.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n More from Fowler<\/a>:<\/p>\n Chicago offensive coordinator Declan Doyle is a name to watch. The Bears did not block Philly\u2019s request to interview Doyle, which means he\u2019s free to make the lateral move. Some see him as head coach material, and this job can be a springboard if the new playcaller improves [Jalen] Hurts\u2019 performance.<\/p>\n While it would be a lateral move in title, Doyle is obviously not the Bears\u2019 play-caller. So, this would effectively be a promotion, which is probably why the Bears didn\u2019t block the request.<\/p>\n Doyle\u2019s lack of experience stands out but maybe he\u2019s picked up some wisdom from working with Sean Payton and Ben Johnson. With the Eagles seemingly striking out on their top candidates, it could be good to take a big swing at OC as opposed to aiming for mere competence at best (see: Matt Nagy). The 2025 Eagles certainly could\u2019ve benefited from mere competence but the 2026 Eagles might need more upside given the potential moving parts on offense.<\/p>\n The Bobby Slowik interview happened<\/p>\n On Friday morning, NFL insider Adam Schefter noted that the Eagles interviewed Miami Dolphins senior passing game coordinator Bobby Slowik for Philly\u2019s OC opening.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n The news here is that the interview actually took place.
