The New York Giants<\/a> are adding former Baltimore Ravens defensive line coach Dennis Johnson to head coach John Harbaugh’s new staff, reports NFL insider Aaron Wilson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Johnson, 37, reunites with Harbaugh after serving as the Ravens’ defensive line coach for the past two seasons. His hiring replaces Andre Patterson in the role as the Giants rebuild their coaching staff under the newly appointed Harbaugh.<\/p>\n

A native of Amory, Mississippi, Johnson played defensive tackle at LSU from 2008 to 2011. He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Northwestern State (2012-2013) before returning to LSU in various roles, including defensive line coach from 2018-2019. He then spent four seasons (2020-2023) coaching Baylor’s defensive line, developing players like Siaki Ika and Gabe Hall.<\/p>\n

Johnson entered the NFL in 2024 when the Ravens hired him to replace Anthony Weaver.<\/p>\n

Known as a front-seven specialist with an emphasis on run defense, he brings familiarity with Harbaugh’s system to East Rutherford as the Giants aim to bolster their defensive front.<\/p>\n
