A \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d sketch didn\u2019t give Jarrett Stidham much chance of leading the Denver Broncos to an AFC Championship Game upset over the New England Patriots.<\/p>\n
Stidham will make his first start of the 2023 season in place of Bo Nix, who broke his ankle <\/a>at the end of Denver\u2019s AFC Divisional Round victory. NBC\u2019s writers apparently aren\u2019t counting on the former New England backup to write a fairytale ending.<\/p>\n Although CBS will televise<\/a> Sunday\u2019s AFC title clash, \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d performed a sketch parodying<\/a> ESPN\u2019s imagined coverage of the game. The evening\u2019s host, Teyana Taylor, wrote off Denver before the opening whistle while portraying sideline reporter Lisa Salters.<\/p>\n \u201cWell, the Broncos have nothing to be ashamed of,\u201d Taylor said as Salters. \u201cThey had a great season and shouldn\u2019t hold back their heads. They should hold their heads high. I\u2019m sure they\u2019ll be a team to watch next year.\u201d<\/p>\n James Austin Johnson\u2019s Joe Buck reminded Salters that the game hadn\u2019t even started. That didn\u2019t sway her analysis.<\/p>\n Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n \u201cI mean, come on,\u201d Taylor responded as Salters. \u201cThey ain\u2019t got no quarterback.\u201d<\/p>\n Troy Aikman, played by Andrew Dismukes, also noted that the Broncos have a \u201cvery capable team\u201d even without Nix. Salters echoed her, \u201cCome on\u201d insight before promptly cutting right back to Aikman.<\/p>\n Later in the sketch, Salters introduced an interview with a \u201cfan\u201d who was actually a fictional Stidham.<\/p>\n Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n \u201cCongrats on a great season, and better luck next year,\u201d Taylor\u2019s Salters told the quarterback.<\/p>\n \u201cNow hold on, Lisa,\u201d the Stidham character replied. \u201cWe got a great team here. I think we can win this game.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYeah, but Jarrett. Come on.
