Saleh was recently named Tennessee&#8217;s head coach after spending the 2025 season as San Francisco&#8217;s defensive coordinator.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Titans coach Robert Saleh is taking Greg Scruggs with him from the 49ers&#8217; staff to be his defensive line coach. Scruggs was the 49ers&#8217; assistant defensive line coach this season and worked on Saleh&#8217;s staff with the Jets in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Matt Maiocco (@MaioccoNBCS) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MaioccoNBCS\/status\/2015459223136780403?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">January 25, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Last week, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan acknowledged that he expected Saleh to pull from the San Francisco staff as he builds his own staff in Tennessee.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Yeah, I do expect Saleh to ask for some people,&#8221; Shanahan said. &#8220;We&#8217;ll see how that goes here over the next two weeks.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Scruggs spent just one season with the 49ers but has a longer history working alongside Saleh. He began his NFL coaching career with Saleh on the New York Jets&#8217; staff in 2022, serving as an assistant defensive line coach.
