The Dallas Cowboys denied a request for permission to talk with one of their assistant coaches. The Philadelphia Eagles<\/a> requested a chance to speak with Cowboys offensive coordinator Klayton Adams<\/a> in hopes of luring him away from the division rival. The Cowboys front office wasn’t having any of it.<\/p>\n Retaliatory? Probably, as the Eagles had to suspect Dallas wouldn’t allow their soon-to-be second-year OC for the lateral move. The NFL does not recognize the addition of play-calling duties as a true promotion for someone already on the coordinator level. The Cowboys strolled into South Philly with a lasso and signed Eagles pass game coordinator Christian Parker as defensive coordinator, and have since interviewed Philadelphia assistant linebackers coach Ronell Williams<\/a>.<\/p>\n The denial is well within the Cowboys rights, yet it adds another layer of tension between two franchises that rarely need help manufacturing drama.<\/p>\n As of yet there have been no reports if Adams requested permission to be allowed to speak with Philadelphia.<\/p>\n The former Cardinals<\/a>‘ offensive line coach resurrected a Cowboys run game that became non-existent during the Mike McCarthy era, getting worse year after year. By 2024, Dallas ranked 27th in the NFL with 1,705 total ground yards.
