Jacksonville Jaguars’ <\/a>offensive coordinator Grant Udinski <\/a>has withdrawn his name from consideration for the Cleveland Browns<\/a> head coaching job.<\/p>\n

So why, after going through the initial interview process, did Udinski decide against potentially taking over the Browns?<\/p>\n

Well, there’s likely a lot of factors in play, but there seem to be two big ones in particular that stand out.<\/p>\n

For one, it was reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter<\/a> that Udinski was given a pay raise for the 2026 season to remain in Jacksonville.<\/p>\n

The Jaguars<\/a> are also giving Udinski the flexibility to remain in the mix for the Buffalo Bills<\/a>‘ head coaching opening.<\/p>\n

Secondly, perhaps this wasn’t the right fit for Udinski. Across the NFL landscape, Udinski is viewed as an up-and-coming future head coach. Chances are, with each passing year, demand for Udinski will only grow, which means more options for him to consider.<\/p>\n

We saw now-Bears<\/a> head coach Ben Johnson take a similar approach in 2024. Rather than taking a head coaching job, he remained with the Lions<\/a> as their coordinator for another season before joining the Bears.<\/p>\n

Regardless of what the reasons were, the Jaguars will be happy to have Udinksi around for another season. He was a big part of the offense’s success this past season.<\/p>\n
