The Titans interviewed three candidates on Monday, according to Paul Kuharsky. They are Kliff Kingsbury, former Bucs QB coach Thad Lewis, and current Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich. Meanwhile former Bills head coach Brian Daboll is the fourth candidate.

There’s a fifth unknown candidate according to PK who ensures the Titans are in compliance with the Rooney Rule. Because we don’t know who that candidate is, we ranked the remaining four (1-4) from best to worst.

The Titans would like to hire Daboll as their offensive coordinator as soon as possible, according to the NFL Network. The problem? He remains a candidate for the Buffalo Bills and Las Vegas Raiders head coaching jobs. The Titans have been patient. Daboll is Robert Saleh’s top candidate, and his history with developing young quarterbacks would be good news for Cam Ward.

Kingsbury was supposed to interview for the Titans’ head coaching gig, but that didn’t happen. He’s discussing the team’s OC position on Monday. Kingsbury has worked with two Offensive Rookie of the Year quarterbacks in Jayden Daniels and Kyler Murray, but he washed out of both Washington and Arizona shortly after those triumphs. His Air Raid offense is an intriguing fit for Ward, given his relationship with Ward’s former HC and OC Eric Morris at Incarnate Word and Washington State.

Stenavich is a non-play-calling coordinator under Matt LaFleur with the Packers. That’s why he’s being allowed to interview for the Titans’ play-calling role. Stenavich has a background in offensive coordinator play. He briefly worked with Saleh in San Francisco, meaning he’s well-versed in the Kyle Shanahan and LaFleur versions of the zone-based West Coast Offense. The Titans would probably take a run-heavy approach under him.

With all due respect to Lewis, the Titans appear far more interested in the other candidates. Lewis played the quarterback position, but his lack of play-calling experience doesn’t meet the Titans’ criteria. He was recently fired as the Buccaneers’ QB coach.

The race to become the Tennessee Titans’ offensive coordinator is beginning to heat up.
